Job Description

The Financial Services Advisor is responsible for assisting new and continuing students between their enrollment and start date to secure funding via VA Benefits. The Financial Services Advisor handles all student outreach, advisement, document collection, file review, and awarding that pertains to these fund sources. The Financial Services Advisor works collaboratively with peers to provide students with a seamless and efficient funding process.

Here’s what you’d be doing:

Complies with all Federal, State, accreditation and institutional policies and procedures
Processes VA documents
Serves as POC for students utilizing VA benefits
Certifies Veteran student benefits while maintaining knowledge of Veteran benefit eligibility requirements
Adjusts, amends, and terminates VA certifications accordingly to reflect current student courses
Maintains knowledge of SDI’s pricing model and refund policies
Communicates daily with students via phone and email communication, while providing exceptional customer service
Prepares operational tracking reports as requested by management
Assists with file reviews, audits and other regulatory requirements as needed
Collects necessary documentation for completion of files
Updates all necessary systems with pertinent student information
Coordinates cancellations and start date changes
Produces and sends all award letters
Other tasks as assigned

What we’re looking for:

Associate’s Degree in finance, public administration, accounting, human resources, counseling; or a related field is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Two years of student advising or customer service experience, required
Two or more years of VA benefits experience, required
Related experience (such as bank loan officer, tax consultant, student records, counseling or admissions) may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered
