Job Description
Client Care:
Maintain collaborative interaction with the Program Director and regularly report to the Executive Director concerning client care, legal issues, and program functioning.
Provide counseling services from intake to discharge, including crisis intervention and aftercare for clients and their families.
Serve as the counselor for the counseling center, as needed.
Provide individual and group therapy, as assigned.
Complete mental health diagnostic evaluations and drug/alcohol assessments, as needed.
Participate in external relations including Children, Youth and Families Department Protective Services, Juvenile Justice Services, the courts, public schools, funders, and other community resources.
Maintain comprehensive client case files, as determined by program requirements.
Prepare reports and billing, as required.
Clinical Support and Training:
Provide clinical support, clinical training, and clinical modeling for staff.
Attend staff meetings for both Youth Emergency Shelter and Transitional Living Program.
Facilitate client safety plan meetings, consulting with staff regarding client care.
Participate in the hiring, training, of staff including volunteers and interns, as assigned.
Participate in clinical review of shelter referrals and caseload.
Program Participation:
Participate in the daily activities within the milieu, providing a clinical presence, including shift coverage, as assigned.
Participate in the emergency on-call system, as assigned.
Perform other duties, as assigned by the Program Director and Executive Director.
Transitional Living Program Support:
Provide support to the transitional living program with intakes and behavioral issues.
Conduct trauma-informed training for staff and clients.
Participate in clinical review of applications and caseload for the transitional living program.
What are the qualifications and experience I need to become a Contract Youth Support Counselor?
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably with youth and families.
Must maintain an active and up-to-date professional license.
Must provide and maintain personal professional liability insurance.
Must provide and maintain personal workers’ compensation insurance.
Extensive knowledge and experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and youth services.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and community partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with case management software is a plus.
Valid Driver’s License, insurable under YSFS automobile policy.
Must be over 21 years of age to meet minimum eligibility requirements of our automobile insurance carrier.
Preferred
Bilingual in Spanish and English
What are the minimum education requirements?
Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent.
