Position Summary:

In this role, the successful candidate The Clinical Translational Science Institute, Clinical Research Center and the Beyond Bridges Initiative at NYU Langone Health Brooklyn are seeking a highly motivated Research Educational Coordinator (REC). Reporting to the program manager for strategic initiatives and education, the REC will coordinate and support community-facing and educational initiatives within our Brooklyn clinical research center. Working closely with community partners, researchers, faculty members, and university systems, the REC will develop and implement educational and training programs in research for community health workers (CHW), liaisons, and patient navigators. Collaborating with the program manager for educational initiatives, associate and program directors, the REC will develop programs, raise awareness, create educational curricula, and train the next generation of community health workers and students, with a focus on enhancing underrepresented minority (URM) representation in the research workforce. Additionally, the REC will support the development and enhancement of community-facing educational programs, including training for community health workers and expand collaborative opportunities with community organizations and stakeholders. Prior experience as a community health worker and/or in community outreach is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Development and Coordination: Collaborate with research faculty, program directors and other stakeholders to design, develop, and implement research educational programs for CHWs and students.
Work with HR and other departments to coordinate onboarding of students from university systems and and other program participants as needed.
Coordinate the onboarding and maintenance of schools, new initiatives and programs.
Provide administrative support to associate director and program directors for the educational initiative.
Coordinate the procurement, organization, and maintenance of educational resources, including textbooks, research publications, software tools, and other relevant materials for staff, students, and other program participants.
Stay updated with the latest educational resources and recommend appropriate acquisitions and changes to curricula.
Ensure that programs align with institutional goals and initiatives.
Curriculum Development: Assess existing curricula at the institution and identify gaps and areas for improvement in clinical research education for CHWs.
Work with associate and program directors, faculty, CTSI and Beyond Bridges to develop content for the research curricula serving diverse educational groups (high school, undergraduate and medical students; community health workers; and other program participants).
Design, organize and deliver regular in-person research education to community health workers, college, and and other program participants, including community health liasons and community members
Training and Workshops: Develop, schedule and assist in delivering training sessions and workshops on topics related to clinical research for CHWs and community members.
Collaboration, Networking and Community Outreach:Foster collaboration and networking opportunities with internal departments and external institutions, organizations, and professionals in the field of clinical research education.
Work with community partners, local schools and university systems to create a pipeline of students into our research education programs.
Travel to schools and events to provide awareness, establish connections and recruit participants to our educational programs.
Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in clinical research education.
Manage and coordinate regular communications across multiple outlets, including the website, listservs, and community-wide announcements, to ensure consistent messaging regarding research education initiatives for the program. Develop and maintain the content of intranet site.
Assessment, Evaluation, Communication and Reporting: Develop assessment strategies and tools to measure the effectiveness of research educational programs and initiatives.
Conduct focus groups with program directors and students in evaluating educational programs.
Analyze data and provide recommendations for improvements based on evaluation results.
Work with program directors to implement and integrate new research findings into the curricula, ensuring a well-rounded and up-to-date educational experience for students.
Prepare reports, presentations, and other communication materials to update stakeholders on the progress, impact, and outcomes of educational programs.
Collaborate with Beyond Bridges and CTSI staff and communications team to promote educational initiatives through various institutional channels and community networks.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
1. Associates or Bachelors degree required with 3 years relevant research or community health outreach, community health worker, and education experience.
2. Computer literate with good interpersonal, oral, writing and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiarity with Internet applications.
4. Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

1. Masters degree in education, public health, research, or a related field with 1-2 years experience in clinical research, research education, community health, or related experience preferred.
2. Prior experience as a community health worker and/or in community outreach.
3. Prior experience in educational program development, curriculum design, teaching, corporate training, or educational research coordination is highly desirable.
4. Strong knowledge of clinical research, curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, and assessment strategies preferred.
5. Experience managing clinical research in an academic or pharmaceutical setting.
6. Interest in developing and implementing training initiatives.
7. Knowledge of good clinical practice guidelines and federal regulations.
8. Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms.
9. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
10. Proficiency in another language is preferred (i.e., Arabic, Bangla, Cantonese, Fujianese, Haitian-Creole, Hindi, Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, Urdu).
