Job Description

The ASAM Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments using the ASAM criteria to determine appropriate levels of care for substance use and co-occurring disorders. This role involves evaluating patient needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring treatment plans align with ASAM guidelines. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in eliciting detailed information from patients and meticulously documenting all complexities and challenges.

Conduct Assessments:

Perform detailed evaluations on new admits and update as necessary during patient stay using the ASAM criteria.
Elicit comprehensive patient histories, medical records, and psychosocial information.
Use standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews to gather detailed information.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, including all complexities and challenges.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Prepare and present detailed reports on patient assessments and outcomes.

Quality Improvement:

Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance assessment processes.
Stay current with ASAM criteria updates and best practices.

Training and Development:

Provide training and mentorship on ASAM criteria and assessment processes.
Attend professional development opportunities to enhance assessment skills.

 

Qualifications:

Licensed as a mental health or addiction professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, RN with BSN, or APRN).

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in addiction treatment and assessment.
Extensive knowledge and application of ASAM criteria.
Proven ability to elicit detailed information from patients and document all relevant complexities and challenges.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
