Provides tele-health counseling services to support to a portfolio of Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) School staff, students, and families. Provide assessment, person-centered planning, monitoring, and advocacy regarding the needs of individuals. Provide culturally appropriate clinical services for various mental health, co-occurring disorders, and age groups. Must adhere to mandated reporting laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform initial evaluation of prospective clients (i.e., students their families, and staff) based on their needs, desires, and barriers.
Conduct psychosocial assessments; coordinate, monitor, evaluate and advocate for appropriate services.
Build rapport with clients and relay client care concerns to BHS supervisor.
Develop person-centered care plans for students and families, and staff and provide therapeutic support as needed.
Maintain constant communication with clients while addressing their concerns and goals and helping them maintain positive attitudes.
Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed.
Ensure timely completion of assessments, treatment plan reviews, and discharge summaries to ethically manage all phases of therapy.
Demonstrate the utilization of appropriate Evidence-based Practices in the treatment of clients.
Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers and community outreach programs to provide client with needed services.
Provide individuals with the resources needed to reach personal goals.
Educate clients on stress and trauma coping mechanisms.
Complete documentation in accordance with tele-health counseling services policy and procedure.
Participate as an active member of the BIEBHWP Crisis and On-call Team.
Participate as a member of clinical team to secure clinical feedback and direction on caseload.
Adhere to patient confidentiality and comply with program policy, state licensure guidelines, and federal regulations under the privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Provide training & technical assistance (TTA) to a portfolio, around the prevention of substance use/misuse, prevention of suicide, promotion of mental health, or addressing behavior management skill building.
Conduct regular webinars, conference calls, telephone support and email with the BIE audience to provide virtual TTA.
Assist the BIE audience in strengthening existing services and/or begin building infrastructure for prevention efforts.
Coordinate with other TA Coordinators and the contract staff to ensure collaboration, communication, joint development of materials, and training.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and expertise in mental health counseling services, substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, and/or youth suicide risks.
Demonstrated knowledge of clinical issues/culturally appropriate intervention techniques.
Effective communication skills including how to summarize and convey complex information to multiple audiences.
Proven ability to form positive, effective, and culturally competent relationships with clients and team members.
Experience and background working Tribal communities providing onsite and virtual training and technical assistance.
Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and deliver quality results under tight deadlines, with keen attention to detail.
Ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Adobe Connect, and database management.
Must be able to favorably complete a background investigation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree in Social Work.
5+ years clinical social work professional experience.
Independent and unrestricted LCSW, LICW, LMFT or LPC license.
Ability to make psychosocial assessments and develop and implement viable care plans.
Excellent listening and communication skills.
Ability to provide on-call and after-hours service as needed.
Ability to travel on short notice to provide on-site crisis support.
Previous work in American Indian/Alaska Native communities required.
